Analysis

My starting point is a thorough review and understanding of your firm’s current position and how performance compares against the competition.

A strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) analysis should be conducted. Major clients of the firm should be invited to contribute to the process and asked their views. An analysis of the competitor firms that each of your firms’ departments faces will be necessary. Detailed financial analysis should be conducted for the firm and each of its departments by reference to management accounts and benchmarked against similar sized firms.

By undertaking a detailed analysis, it will become clear where a firm’s strengths lie and where its competitiveness needs to improve, which can be translated into measurable goals and objectives in your business plan and form the basis for future investment decisions.
